Designer: Monique Johnson
As the start to a ‘classic California’ story, native New Yorker Monique LoBue Johnson moved to San Francisco after graduating from Syracuse University with a degree in Illustration. Eleven years later, she remains in love with her new home of San Francisco and is excited to grow her business and her family on the West Coast.
Monique’s personal philosophy is rooted in her belief that travel – internationally and domestically – is empowering and fundamentally alters one’s belief system and outlook on life. Travel continues to be a part of her life, inspiring new and different ideas crucial to her development as an artist. Monique has combined her ‘east coast sensibility’ with ‘west coast idealism’ to create a well balanced perspective on work, life, and family.
Over the years, Monique has always kept up to speed with ever-changing industry standards and trends. Her work experience has spanned the print and online worlds providing her diversity in the roles she has performed and industries she has supported. Prior to forming MoJo Design, Monique led the design team as Art Director for Kodak Gallery. She has also worked at various award-winning design firms in the bay area including Diesel Design and 1185 Design.
In 2008, Monique founded MoJo Design after having her first child. She wanted to provide more value to a wider set of clients than she was able to working for an internal creative department. As a self-motivated natural leader who loves being busy, forming her own company has been the most fulfilling professional decision of her career.
