2009Changes to LogoGala

I’ve been swamped lately with freelance work, but had the time today to change some things around with how submissions are handled.
A while back Graham Smith of ImJustCreative wrote a couple nice reviews where he shared his thoughts on the direction of LogoGala’s featured section and how beneficial it is to get glimpse inside the designer’s mind from the interview questions asked.

2009Best of June and July, 2009

The past month or so I’ve been extremely busy with freelance work. On one hand this is great that I am continuing to build my freelance business. On the other hand it’s not-so-great as my personal projects suffer. I’ve been able to adhere to the normal gallery posting schedule of two new general gallery submissions each day and three featured submissions each week, but aside from that, I’ve not had time to do much else. As a result of this – as you may have noticed – I have not posted a “best of” article the last two months, so I’m making up for that now. This is the best of June and July, 2009. A total of my favorite 20 designs (10 from June and 10 from July) are featured in this entry. Enjoy!

2009Update on Promote and Win Contest

I apologize for the delay with this contest. When the contest started I had only hoped to run it for a few weeks but as you can see it has went a little longer.
I’m ready to start tallying up the results, but I’ve got a problem. The problem is that I didn’t realize Twitter search doesn’t keep data past 25 days. My initial plan was to let the contest run and tally up the tweets (and other results) at the end. I’m sure you can see my problem now? In case you’re not following, the contest has ran for over a month now and with Twitter only keeping 25 days worth of data, that poses a problem with figuring out who tweeted about the promotion when it first launched since it was longer than 25 days ago. I’ve contacted Twitter to ask if there’s any way possible to retrieve this information (they must keep backups?) but I’ve received no response thus far from them (thanks for the great support, Twitter).

2009Celebrating LogoGala - Promote and Win!

LogoGala has been online now for exactly two months. Its growth in that short period of time has far surpassed the expectations that I had before launch. In a short two months, LogoGala has quickly become a popular site for logo inspiration and is by far my most popular site.

Time really flies by sometimes; I feel like I was just writing the Best of January article a day ago, but at any rate, it’s time for the second installment ever in the “Best of” series here on LogoGala.
Thanks to everyone who has submitted a design to LogoGala. I wish I could include every design in the “Best of” series because they are great in their own way, but I can only choose 10. So, here are my favorite logo designs for February, 2009.

2009Kraft - Another Rebrand Bites the Dust

A couple weeks ago I wrote about a rebrand that didn’t go so well and it seems that there’s another company following Blimpie’s lead. Kraft foods recently unveiled it’s new corporate logo and completely missed the mark on this one.
According to the article from Adweek, this logo was conceived after a seven month design process where more than 7,000 employees and consumers worldwide were asked for their feedback. Consumers were asked questions such as: “What do you look for in a food company?” and “How do you engage with food generally?”
My question is this: From questions such as the ones above, how did they arrive at the final concept?
